A wide range of products and experience: The PENTAX Story
It all began in Japan, 1919: It was there that the Asahi Kogaku Corporation was established in the Toshima ward of Tokyo and began producing optical lenses. As the years went by the production range significantly changed: For a brief period during World War II optical instruments for military use were provided.
Then, after the war, the company started manufacturing binoculars and consumer camera lenses for Konica and Minolta brand lenses.
1952 saw the introduction of the company’s first SLR camera using 35mm film - the first ever produced in Japan. In 1957 the company officially started to use the name PENTAX.
Since then the name PENTAX has become known worldwide for its high quality optical products.
